Saw the recent thread on fret nibblers for bound fingerboards, and was surprised no mentioned these new tools offered by Jescar. Did not want to comment until I had used them and put that to rest today. I like them. Fretted my latest #4 a 1937 spec herringbone D-28 with Jescar SS43080-S. For the initial cut I used a set of Knipex cutters I sanded almost flush with the edge, and then these Summit (made by UNIOR EU) for cutting the fret tang and then trimming the fret. Cuts stainless like butter ![]() Hesh right now these are filed perpendicular with the edge of the fingerboard what do you recommend for a minimum angle? |

Nice - I'm going to have to check those out before long. My old Channellocks can handle stainless (old ones, before they reworked the castings and messed them all up), but at 15-20 years of service they're starting to show their age. For the bevel, I like to keep it very modest, guessing around 25° off square, then rely on careful rounding of the ends for a soft feel without compromising playing real estate. |

Cool stuff - may be time for an upgrade at A2G! Looks to me like they might take some of the pain out of using SS wire at least for me. My cutters cut it but it takes a lot of force and then there is a big shock to my hands when the cutters break through and it makes my hernia(s) hurt... I know... too much information.... ![]() |

What is the tool furthest to the right? It looks like a fret tang crimper like Stew Mac sells, but I don't see that on Jescar's website. |

I was curious how smooth the fret tang nipper removed the tang. Did it still require cleaning up with file after it was removed or was it good to go? Kent |

I was looking at those last time I made an order from Jescar. Look like nice tools - they're on my list. |
